Southwestern Ohio Young Adult Materials Review Group was established in 1980 with the encouragement of Wright State University Professor of Education Dr. Mary Lou White and Mrs. Diane Ball, Media Specialist at Oakwood Junior-Senior High. Now in its fourth decade, SOYAMRG is comprised of over 40 public and private school librarians, public librarians and other professionals who work with young adults ages 12-18.
This review group meets every third Tuesday in January, March, May, July, September and November, usually at a Dayton area library, to receive and review books from well-known publishers. Members read books received, write reviews for each title and share their reviews with the group. Reviews are sent to the publishers and books are kept by members to be shared with young readers.
New members are always welcome. Librarians and educators are invited to join Miami Valley's longest-running young adult review group. To join SOYAMRG, fill out the form below. At your first meeting, $10 for dues are required. After you have completed these steps, you will be able to choose one book to review. You will be able to receive and review more titles at meetings that follow as long as you remain a member in good standing - turning in reviews, having no more than two or more outstanding book reviews, and paying the yearly dues as set by the group.
